Dr. Samantha Moore is a double board certified psychiatrist who works at both the Chapel Hill and Cary locations of CPFS.  She completed medical school, her General Psychiatry Residency, and her Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at UNC. She is boarded in both General Adult and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Dr. Moore believes that the emotional hardships we face are the result of a complex interplay between biological, psychological, and social factors. They can manifest in a variety of ways, frequently including emotional distress and interpersonal conflict. As such, Dr. Moore's approach to treatment often involves interventions in all these spheres.

Setting goals for treatment should be a collaborative process focusing on the individual needs of each patient.  Such goals may include a reduction in symptoms, a bolstering of a person’s ability to manage them, a deeper understanding of oneself, or improvements in function across any or all domains of life.

Dr. Moore is available for diagnostic evaluations as well as medication management in combination with psychotherapy.  She is also willing to provide medication management services independent of talk therapy, especially if you are already engaged with another psychotherapist.  She sees patients in all stages of life, with a wide variety of mental health concerns.

Her intensive fellowship training with children and adolescents make her uniquely equipped to work with that population, with the understanding that parents are an essential part of any such work.  To this end, she may recommend a variety of session formats over time:  with the child alone, with one or multiple family members, or any combination thereof.  She believes that to help a child or young person, you must try to understand what is important to them, and she often engages with them via their personal interests and hobbies.  Dr. Moore has experience treating the full range of mental health challenges facing children, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, and other concerns.
